What does this mean?
The idea is to raise enough funds for a bike and sidecar used exclusively for SUPERGOOD NEURODIVERSTIY ride outs.
What do we want to do with it?
We want to take kids and adults out with their carers for a trip (either short or long) that suits them, to give the individual some time to feel what it is like being on a motorcycle with the wind in your face and the feeling of the road.
My Autistic son has grown up knowing what it feels like to ride his own bike, and be on the back of mine. I wanted to be able to give this opportunity to other autistic kids and adults who may have mobility restrictions or just have never been out on a bike.
It might be a trip to the shop, a cafe or just a run around the block, but we would look to provide an opportunity for kids and adults to have an option to try it.
Which sidecar?
We plan to work with Watsonian to have a suitable and safe side for its users, ensuring we cater for different abilities as much as possible. It might not be right for some on the first go, but we will learn and develop as we go.
Not all will want to go on the road.
Granted, not all kids will like it, as it may be that they might sit in it and not go more than a few feet, which is ok.
The future
We hope to be able to have more than one bike in the UK over the next few years, as we want to provide a little bit of joy and fun to kids and adults in different areas, the opportunity to explore the world of motorcycles, and the freedoms & sensory feelings it brings.
