Group motorcycle riding can be an awesome experience when everyone knows the rules and rides with respect. Here’s a breakdown of group riding etiquette to keep things smooth, safe, and fun on our autism ride outs
Before the Ride
Pre-Ride Meeting: Discuss the route, hand signals, fuel stops, and any ride-specific info.
SGBFA Assigns Roles:
SGBFA Lead Rider: Sets the pace, navigates, watches for hazards.
tail end Charlie: Rides in the back, helps if anyone has issues.
Marshals in pink . Support and mark the route when required for left and right turn . No marshal mean straight on.
Mid-pack Captain for larger groups.
Everyone should know the route in case of separation.
On the Road
Staggered Formation:
Left-right-left pattern (1 second between staggered riders, 2 seconds between those in the same track).
Switch to single file in tight turns, poor visibility, or narrow roads.
No Passing Within the Group: Stick to your position unless signaled otherwise.
Ride Your Own Ride: Don’t push beyond your skill or comfort level to keep up.
Keep a Safe Distance: Tailgating = bad news. Give space to react.
Fuel and Break Stops: Plan them in advance; communicate if you need an unscheduled stop.

When Things Go Wrong
If someone breaks down or has trouble, the sweep or a designated rider helps.
The rest of the group continues to a safe area if needed.
General Tips
Be fueled up and ready before departure time.
Make sure your bike is in good shape.
Respect traffic laws.
Watch out for the rider behind you — not just in front.
